Hey, just registered for the gamedev.net boards so I thought I'd start by showing off some of my stuff. This is my most recent song, for the upcoming indie fantasy RPG "The Changeling" http://abstract-productions.net/music/change.mp3 Mark Hall Abstract Productions [edited by - XMark on January 10, 2004 9:31:15 AM]
Wow! I haven''t been on these boards long, but this is the best composed song I''ve heard on here so far! (only in my humble opinion, of course) It''s just so....Squaresoft! Hahah. Very nice stuff indeed. Lots and lots of emotion. I like the arrangement, too. What do you use for production?

I'm using the free version of Pro Tools, and most of the instruments are from the Sinfonia soundfont (the best-quality orchestral soundfont I could find for free).
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I edited the soundfont so the slow strings fade in and out slower.

Very nice. Good to see several different instruments being introduced and taking up the meloy at different times instead of the usual Here''s my motive that I''ve looped for an hour...I''m a musician!

Great job! I love it ;D

Thanks for the responses everyone!
Anyway, here''s a little background on the song: I first got involved with the Changeling project 2 years ago while I was still primarily doing XM''s and MOD''s. This song was a remake of this one I did 2 years ago. I think it''s a good reflection of how I''m progressing musically

Although there''s one thing about this song that has always bugged me: the theme is very similar to the song "Sadness" from Terranigma (different time signature, different orchestration and different in-between notes but the chord progression and key notes of the melody are the same), a game which I was playing when I first composed the theme. I hate when songs I hear bleed through into my compositions. It makes me paranoid to think that the cool melody that just popped into my head could just be a memory echo from the album I was listening to last week
