First 3d animation of my course

Hi all, i''ve just finished my first project on my Computer Animation degree (i''m interested in doing cut scenes for games) and was looking for some feedback. it''s 20 megs, so fair play if you can''t/don''t want to download it, but if ya do, please let me know what you think Rock, Paper, Scissors.... Toast? The basic idea was a game of rock, paper, scissors being played by a blender and a toaster ina kitchen, except the toaster misses the point and only pops toast up as his move
for reference, the animation was created using:

3dsMAX 5.1 (exporting frames as .targa)
Premiere 6.5 (assembling and adding sounds)

thanks for taking the time to look, although i''ll have to delete it in the next few days to free up the space
very cute, i love it. reminds me a little bit of the style of "lampy", the pixar character from their first short.

Pretty good. But your motion (especially with the Blender''s hands) lack any ''snap''. They have the feel that you just placed 2 keyframes at the start and stop, even the ones where you added a bit of rebound at the end. For instance, when he''s moving his hands for the RPS, you dont flick the wrist any. The wrist would stay titled up on the down movement, THEN, right as the elbow locks into place (which is only after the shoulder does) .. then you flick the wrist down, with a bit of rebound before it comes static.

Also, I''d say the blender holds too many of his poses. And often, when one arm was being used, the other was occassionally completely still. For these points, even little things like twitching the fingers would add alot.

And finally, again with the blender, during the RPS, there should be more motion in his body when he moves his arm. You should twist him a little, maybe bring him back in anticipation, then forward on the strike.

....that''s all I got for now. It''s good, but you could definately improve by bringing them some more life.

Held poses seem all the rage nowadays. I said the same about a flash movie not too long ago.

I wish the action in a lot of animation nowadays followed through more smoothly. Instead, it pauses and makes us sit, think, and wait.
