Hi all! Heres my main idea for a game Named "Devil or Angle" we''re coding. Tell me is it fine. The game is a 2d Platformer. we will be making a game named "Devil or Angel" and the idea is that we have to choose one a devil or an angel, and then we will be presented with a floor on which there will be some humans roaming about and one by one they will die , then their souls will wander on the whole level, wheather we are angel or a devil our task is to get them and throw them in the right gate. we should throw them in a Hell''s gate if we are a Devil or In the heaven''s Gate if we choose to be an angel, every stage will contain both of these gates, our task is to avoid our opponent type (angel or a devil) and collect all the spirits and get them in the gate before our opposite type. We will die if we make a body contact with our opponent, or if he hits us with some of his weapon. Devil will have melee weapons like a burning sword, or a flaming trident and angel will have lightning bolts and an electric dagger etc.

Well, I''d beef up the devil/angel confrontation a little more. After all, if touching them kills you, wouldn''t touching you kill them? Make it a fight, and make the loser go back to a "spawn point" in ethereal form, like the ghosts in Pac-Man.

Also, giving all the free will to the angel and devil (I advise some kind of fallen angel, since then the opposition will be more even and more poignant) commits a metaphysical faux pas. The quality of the soul should play a role as well. So, if you''re an angel, it would be a total breeze to grab the pastor''s soul and the church choir, but they''d be worth fewer points. But if you could drag that gambling, womanizing, stealing, cheating bastard through the pearly gates, you''d get a little medal from Mr. Big. Vice versa, as well. Devils could just blow the horn and get the drunks to flood through the black gates, but you''d have to tie rocks to the ankles of church-goers and children to get them down the hole.

Anything you do will be an affront to the bona fide Christian dogma relating to salvation and damnation, but a more nuanced system will lead to more engaging gameplay.

Maybe instead of just running around and grabbing souls, you could have a sort of challenge for each one. If you''re an angel, and you want to get Parson Brown to follow you to the Kingdom of Heaven, you just tell him so, and he''ll follow you. He knows enough and is strong enough that even if the devil character gets there first, he''ll resist until you show up and lead him to the pearly gates. On the other hand, that alcoholic farmer who doesn''t believe one way or the other will be up for grabs. You can get there first and show him the glory of the Lord, or the devil can show him lies about how great Hell is, and he''ll just take the first offer, since he''ll figure the whole thing is some kind of trauma-induced fever dream. And the Satanist or voodoo practitioner will actually resist you, waiting for the guy with wings of fire.

You could have tricks at your disposal, like showing them the glory of God or letting them see the good they did in their lives (as an angel), or offering them fictitious wealth or even wagering a fortune in gold against their soul (as a devil). Different types of people would be more or less susceptible to different types of persuasion, so it would basically be an RPG battle system, with HP replaced by resolve.

It''s a neat idea, and could be a lot of fun. Watch out for those who would declare you a blasphemer, and keep a sinse of humor about the whole thing. You might even want to modify the metaphysic of the whole affair, so its not a poorly interpreted display of Christianity, but is in fact a religion loosely based on many people''s poor interpretation of Christianity. It (almost) worked for Salmon Rushdie and Islam.

Good advices, man i will really use them where they are fit .
And i hope the game play will be best.

Don''t forget the Satanists. They''ll be just as offended as the Christians. But that''s neither here nor there.

So, do you expect this game to have a "Lemmings" feel to it? Or is it just a sort of action platformer where you need to get more items than the enemy? You should keep that in mind when you''re creating your battle elements and thinking about just how the people will follow you.

On a side note: who in the hell is Parson Brown????
I keep searching for an explanation, but all the websearches come up with is lyrics.

My Parson Brown comment was actually a reference to "Winter Wonderland". I''m pretty sure that''s the source of the name''s popularity.
