Interesting Summoning System
I have an idea, and I thought of it myself but I''ve been told it''s been done before, but I don''t think it''s been done to this extent.
There are three monsters, to my knowledge, who somehow bring for another creature without procreation:
1) The Cadmian Dragon. Cadmus was told to take the teeth of this dragon and sow them into the ground. Men then sprung forth.
2) Medusa. When killed, her blood spilled on the ground, from which the Pegasus and a winged Giant named Chrysaor was born.
3) The Phoenix. Every five-hundred years, it''s said that the phoenix burned itself on a pyre of cinnamon and was reborn from the ashes.
From these, we get the first three summoning items: Cadmian Fang, which summons a dragon; Medusa Blood, which summons a Pegasus; and Phoenix Blood, which summons a Phoenix. You get variety when you synthesize these items with other items that are dropped or stolen from monsters: Cerberus Fang, Leviathan Horn, Behemoth Horn, Ifrit Claw, Griffin Claw, Phoenix Feather, Byakko Claw, Dragon Scale, et cetera. The idea is to get items from the most powerful creatures, so that you can synthesize them with summoning items to create a more powerful summon. Through synthesis, you can get some unique and powerful combinations.
Here are some examples of combinations:
Cadmian Fang + Phoenix Feather = Flaming Wyvern
Medusa Blood + Leviathan Horn = Hippocampus
Medusa Blood + Behemoth Horn = Winged Unicorn
Phoenix Ash + Dragon Scale = Flaming Wyvern
I wrote up more, but I can''t find my paper. Tell me what you think.
It''s less summoning than creating. I''d say you''d be just as well off studying up on the ancient belief in abiogenesis. You could take some dirty rags, stick them in a corner, and they''d turn into mice. Or let meat sit in the open until it turned into maggots.
If that''s not your bag, I''d at least advise you to use a feather from the pheonix, rather than its blood. You could get it confused with the medusa''s blood. And Medusa was a gorgon, wasn''t she?
I figure it''s not a lousy idea, but it loses a lot of its punch if the player doesn''t know the respective legends. Maybe you could populate the world with critters that reproduce via magical means, and leave it to conjurors to experiment with the various things. It would make for more interesting monster hunting, as well. Like collecting Radscorion tails in Fallout for antivenom. You kill a gorgon, then collect its blood/hair/fangs/claws/eyes/etc. and sell them in town for fabulous cash prizes.
Beats the crap out of "Lion dropped 372 GP!" What was a lion doing with that kind of cash, and why are all lions so consistently affluent? Some kind of feline middle class? Pride-wide welfare? now, if its skin is worth 300 GP and its eyes are worth 36 GP each, it makes sense.
You could build a whole alchemy system around this. Some items would be harder to get, though. You can''t get dragon tears unless it actually weeps them, and something like the hand of a murdered virgin would be worth a king''s ransom.

there is a game online called forlorn hope, and one of the classes can stich body parts together to form undead.
So, I think its a good idea. Also, you can probably drop the legend based ones, and you can learn them from other conjurors ("Teach me the secret of making a pheonix and I''ll tell you how to create a Hydra."

Oh, yeah. I study almost all mythology. I''m actually not sure I''d be into the FF series had there not been mythological influences in it.
i wish by all mythologie you mean african and aboriginal too (amerindian and hindu too, mexican etc...), and i''m talking about big one, their is a lot of small but really great myth from simple little community
