Has anyone seen or played a game that was based only on the building of a vehicle. I googled mechanic game, ship mechanic, ship builder and didn''t find much. the only thing I found was a game called Gearhead Garage thats a couple of years old. I am thinking of designing a game for myself that is like the ship design aspect of Stars!2 or moo3. Does anyone have an idea where I can look for examples of whats already been done?

There was a game called Motor city online (don''t know if its still around anymore) that let you build and race hotrods. It was similar to a mechanic game because the cars were so customizable. Other than that, I haven''t seen any real auto/ship building games that came close to MCO (not counting a game project I worked on as a hobby). I''d say much of the genre is unexplored if you''re talking about a game centered on craft design and construction.

Thank you for the lead deanx2578. The Gearhead garage game looked like something sililar to what you are talking about. I couldn''t actually play the demo since it didn''t work with Win 2000. I am kinda disheartened that these games came out a couple of years ago and I didn''t hear about them. It means theres not much interest in that type of game. Oh well. I am not doing this to feed my family. I am doing this for my own fun.

How far did you get in this hobby game of yours? I would be interested in looking at what you have done up to this point.

I lost the code a while back, but it was a space shooter where you built your ship much in the same way you''d assemble a hotrod. Start with a chassis and buy different grades of parts from different companies and even modify/upgrade each particular part.
