I'm going to go out on a limb (as I usually do) and recommend that games or movies for that matter should step away from the almost cliché alien themes. For one, there over done and in Halo's case they spoke English for some reason, but hey, aliens can be bilingual too I guess.

Zombie levels (small Halo spoiler within)
Halo is the Ghost Recon of SF shooters. Long and short. That''s its appeal. Powerful, intelligent adversaries AND allies.

I didn''t like Ghost Recon either. Too slow.

I liked it for its realism and the more than a "one man army" scenario **cough** overdone **cough** but you couldn't see your gun, instead, you only saw this compass type thing. Also there was no attachment to the character, its feels like your just moving a camera around.

If you have any familiarity with the Rainbow Six games, which were the direct precursors to Ghost Recon, you''d have more familiarity with the gameplay. None of the characters are particularly essential, although I personally redo any mission in which Ding Chavez is harmed, it''s almost more of a sim game than an action game.
Halo is the descendent of the excellent Marathon series. An enormous number of inside jokes are available to marathon enthusiasts, and the game itself is very reminiscent of those older ones. Of course there are huge differences, and it''s set in a different world, but what are you going to do?
I find the comparison somewhat awkward and inappropriate, but I enjoyed both games, for their individual appeal, the nostalgia, and even the persistent annoyances. In Ghost Recon, a tango with a snub-nosed revolver can still put a bullet through your sniper''s scope at three hundred yards, just like in Rainbow Six (though that game didn''t feature snipers). And in Halo, the invincible cyber-warrior still can''t control the recoil of a medium-caliber assault rifle. Hell, I shoot tighter groups than that!
And Halo is still the freaking bomb. I hope the sequel is better still.

The sequal should be good, They've added a scoped assult rifle. Altough I still think the pistol is my weapon of choice in Halo. Theres just some thing gratifing about bringing down a giant charging alien with three quick shots to the throat.
Altough I don't know how good the story is going to be. Hopeful one of the designer decieded to read the ringworld series by Niven. For inspiration on new terrians.

I''m told Halo 2 won''t all be on a Halo, though. Some Earth, some Halo (a different one, obviously) and some Covvie homeworld.
Of course, there''s still the possibility of flood, which means they''ll have another chance at a good zombie level.

I hope there won''t be any flood in halo 2. Since I heard it was a prequal rather then a sequal. Even if it is a sequal I doubt the marine would be dumb enough to awaken the flood a second time...then again.
