I accidentally got rid of the Trash icon on my KDE desktop, and I haven''t got any clue how to get it back. Can someone tell me how I can re-create it?

Make a directory in your Desktop directory called Trash. Put a file called .directory in it, with this text:
[Desktop Entry]Type=DirectoryIcon=trashcan_fullEmptyIcon=trashcan_emptyName=TrashComment=Contains removed files

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Can I sym link it to another directory which I set as Trash in my Paths configuration? (specifically ~/.Trash, I''m trying to unify GNOME and KDE a bit). That Trash directory has the .desktop file created...I just can''t seem to put it on the desktop.

Dunno. You might want to make it a hard link instead.
