try the following:
shutdown every cygwin instance (cygrunsrv services to..)
get a new setup.exe from cygwin.com and perform an update
reboot..
Well that didn''t help...

but i did manage to solve the missing DLL........

Can someone help me to fix the startx problem.....
:-)
I installed cygwin and the xfree86 packages, didn''t have any problems. Maybe you are missing a package? Might be something wacky in the XF86Config file too? Let me see what mine does.

Sorry man, not sure what is up with that. I''m not really familiar with cygwin as I install it, the uninstall it. So I just installed it the other night for the first time in a while. Perhaps you can try to remove all the X packages and reinstall all of the X packages provided you have harddisk space for it.

My problem right now is that my xterm window prompt shows up fine(Stormtrooper@Darthbader~) but my rxvt window prompt has something unreadable (\[\033]0;\w\007 \033[32m\]\u@\h \[033[33m\w\033[0m\])
