I installed java-linux version and it still does not come up with java pics...and for shockwave, i am not even sure if there is a linux version. The java error i get is applictaion/x-java-vm and it doesnt show. For shockwave i get some wierd symbol and a something similiar. how do i get all these plugins to work?
Usually the auto-download option never works. Best thing to do is fetch the plugin yourself. There is usually a plugins directory for Mozilla to place them in.

For Java, you might need to configure your JAVA_HOME environment variable for the browser to find the java executeable. You''ll have to do a google search for your browser + java to find out what environment variable it looks for (usuall JAVA_HOME).

You can just ''export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/java'' or something similar. You''ll want to put this in your .bashrc (or equivalent) to ensure it''s there on each login/reboot.

You java path might be different, usually people make a java install with the version number, then make a symlink in /usr/local/java -> /usr/local/javaVERSION.

If your using Mozilla (and this works for Firebird too im guessing), try this: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.html
The lastest Shockwave isn''t available for Linux as I understand it. I complained, and I think everyone should as well, since I can''t do things like play certain games or watch certain movies/cartoons.
