Messenger for linux?
I used to use aol instant messenger on my windows partition until it stopped working, but now I need a way to get it on linux. What is the instant messenger client for linux?
also in my browser how do i change the coller of the scrolling bar to the right that moves you up and down a page because right now it is the same color as the backround of where the scroll bar sits in..
edit] srry this is a bit off topic but i have made 3 other post in the same thread and it is looking a little odd, but i have 30 gig deticated to my kind-of working windows 98se partiton. Is there a way to take 8 gig of it and add it to my linux one? Partition magic or any other program wont work on my win98se yet till i put my nfore 2 board back in.
thnks

Try googling for "gaim".
--AnkhSVN - A Visual Studio .NET Addin for the Subversion version control system.[Project site] [IRC channel] [Blog]
or go to gaim.sourceforge.net
So haaard to post a click... I should have just told him to use google like the elitist, non-helping jerk that I am.

yes gaim or amsn or something will work, though there is some ruccous regarding microsoft not letting third party clients connecting to the messenger network without having a license...see here
which is a shame, but i suppose it serves me right for using msn in the first place..
as for the colours of the windowing elements (scrollbars, buttons ...), that is window manager specific. so consult your window manager documentation. kde3 has a control center which makes all that stuff easy to change, as i suppose do most of the other wm''s.

Compared with typing a few words, finding the URL for something and then pasting it in uses several times more time. Besides, it''s better than nothing, and the poster probably should have googled to begin with.

Eeesh! No it''s not! It''s toolkit dependent. KDE widgets are Qt, GNOME widgets are GTK. The WMs are only one component of KDE/GNOME. If the browser uses GTK (galeon) then you''ll want to use a handy GNOME control panel to configure your GTK, and if it uses Qt (konqueror) then you''ll want to use a handy KDE control panel to configure your Qt. If it uses neither (mozilla), then you''re probably seeing a bug.

Use GNU parted. http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/
There are handy boot-disk images you can download, if your operation includes your root partition.

In free software, there is rarely only one piece of software to do a task. There are a multitude of IM clients. gaim is good. While you''re at it, I''d recommend beginning your transition to the jabber protocol. www.jabber.org
