I got it to work!!!!
I finally downloaded Red Hat Linux 9. It recognised my video card, router, everything! I didn''t have to setup anything. It looks a lot better than Windows So far I love it! I just though I would post it to try everything out. I posted the thread earlier about "Which Linux", just wanted to say thanks for all the replys. Everyone helped a lot

Yeah, lucky for me they do. My sister came over tonight and walked in and seen it. She''s like, "Hey Red Hat! That''s what we use at work." I bit the bullet on that one

I just downloaded three RH9 iso-images to burn them to my friend.. But I'd just like to ask, is it enough to burn the first ISO (shrike-i386-disc1.iso) only to get it running in graphics mode? He has PPPoE connection to install over network everything else after networking is configured. Or are all three disks required?

Having done a lot of installs at work, I know you can get away with Disc1 and Disc2 if you do a "Workstation" install. I believe a lot of the development tools are on disc3, but don''t hold me to that.
Honestly, I would take the time to get all 3 discs, it''ll save a lot of time in the future tracking down RPMs.

Actually, it sounds like he has DSL, so why not just download the network install disk and install everything over the network?

I thought it is easier for newbie to get everything from discs for the first time.. if there comes problem with networking or something else.. I''ll burn all three, it''s just some minutes more

Wait, what''s this?!
I try to play an MP3, and I get a message box that says something about patents and that Red Hat has removed support for playing mp3''s. WHAT?! That''s no good! Is this some kind of plot to make me pay for Red Hat Pro so I can listen to my MP3''s?
Well, at least all the CD''s I''ve ripped lately are .ogg instead of .mp3. But some of my older rips are .mp3. That''s no good! I need mp3!
