Hey! You''ve all just given me an idea - wouldn''t it be great if there was some kind of law that let us register these ideas as our own. Then we could charge other people who come up with them independantly.
we could dredge up a load of lawyers from the bottom of the sea, pay them loads of money to apply the ideas to loads of things they were never meant for. Woa - I think I''m gonna take this idea somewhere.
Oh, would you all mind signing a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement)?

I invented the idea of using tiles!
LMFAO... ... You kill me! But as an advocate for learning (at least on a programming level ) I would probably not really want to force all of my learning references into law suits. Diablo II has been really inspirational, like Diablo before it, Starcraft, Doom, II, Quake, 2, 3:Arena, Mech 2, 3, Any of these games really did a lot to motivate me. I wouldn''t have anything if it wasn''t for them (except a lot of compilers and a big Credit Card bill ).

Well i didn''t invent anything but i was really inspired by Doom I and II in my life.
I was so inspired that i decided to make a game of my own like Doom.
But i couldn''t find a good name for it.
So i took a walk in the sunshine to clear my mind and find a good name.
But after i walked a while, the earth below my feet started shaking, the buldings were dancing and people was running and screaming all over the town.It was an earthquake, not a big one,but really a scary one!
Then it suddenly occured me!
I would name my game Earthquake!
But the name was too long...Surely not commercial.
Hmmm...I can just cut the earth- prefix and make it :
Quake
I rushed to my home and tried to register my idea but ....
... i just found out that ID software had the same idea with me
Preatty sad ha?
Now id software is one of the biggest companies and i''m just stuck here posting to this topic - *snif* -
Well,

Last time I post an inspirational story when I''m drunk.

Ummm no. Tile-based graphics have been around since computers had monitors. Even before there were "icons", games used character-based graphics for tiles.
