Ultima Online Graphics Decompressor
Alright here it is: Im not a programmer of any kind so you know im not to smart in all this stuff but a friend of mine told me about a program he used to have to reduce his pixels to 16 x 16 (making it black and white) and he got awesome resaults in his speed in game. I was wondering if there is a program in existance already for this. Or if not what it requires to make one. Any feedback would be nice. The game is Ultima Online its a MRPG.
Adobe Photoshop can be used to make eg a 100x100 pixel, to a 10x10, even 32 bit colors to 256 bit if you need.
Sure it''s an online game but the online part has nothing to do with the graphics. What the client machine sees is totally up to the software on the client. So, if a person wanted to change all the maps to grayscale thereby lowering the amount of memory required then they could do so. There is probably software out there for this already (Ultima specific is likely). Otherwise, like was stated, if you have access to the maps then change them to grayscale.
Problem you might run into is if the software is loading images of a certain color depth and if you change that then the program is not likely to run without some alteration which would require decompilation and code editing. Prolly more trouble than it''s worth if you can''t just find a patch to do it for you.
