Stu, if you take AI courses in college and study the field, you''ll discover that it isn''t about creating human-like intelligence, but a catch-all for dealing with programs that don''t have easy solutions. For example, a program written in the 1960s could "understand" high school level mathematical word problems and answer them. That kind of program doesn''t fit neatly into other categories.
Lots of years ago - when the computer made it''s entry - people thought AI was the holy grail for us.

Nowadays we know AI was nothing like in the movies. The intelligence you are talking about is not artificial (think long - and say yes)

All just a matter of oppinion.

Now I''m going back to my virtual reallity and fly away into my monitor into the world of materialized bits and bytes...
