Really? Red Faction 2 isn''t doing well? I don''t know any figures so I''m just going by what you said. Man that''s a great game. My cousins and I thought so, anyway.

Anyway, I would be interested in doing a little experiment: Go to several video game stores around town, and just talk with the guys there. Tell them what you''re doing and find out what games are selling, what games aren''t, what sales they''re having, what sales they''re not having, and what little experiences they might have with people coming into the store. What games are people looking at, what are they buying, and what aren''t they buying? Also, what games are people selling, trading, returning, or trying to return? How long does the average customer visit the store? 10 minutes? 15 minutes? 45? What are they doing while they''re there? What games are in the bargain bin, and what games are on the shelves? Are cheating devices still selling well? Which ones? Are people trying to return their cheating devices? Are modem adaptors for consoles selling well? "Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera..."

Basically, just find out all you can to determine why this game from this company sells, but that game from that company doesn''t. I''ll have to do that anyway because I want to start a company several years from now, and I have an inkling to be an investor. Research, research, research.

Master of Orion 3- This title has such promise and anticaption I had been waiting for this since moo2 but it was a terrible I even tried to return it. There was nothing good about the game what so ever. You virtually no control over your empire, you colony built themselves and controlling ships was a hassel and akward since you had to assign them into task forces and then they would function based entirely on what kind of task force you assigned them to.

Stop trying to micromanage. The game does a fine job of that for you, and you can turn off anything (autocolonization) that you don''t like. If you don''t like the game, stop trying to play it exactly like you played MOO2.

A recent game that I hoped would be alot better is lionheart. When I first started to look into this game I was expecting a medival fallout, combined with arcanum. But in stead it became abduntly clear after even a short time that this was nothing more then a medicore hack and slash game. Sure in there a few places you can use other skills mainly solely in Barcalona. But other then that anything other then a full combat character is going to have a tough time.

The majority of the game consists of going through area after area killing 100''s of idenical enimes in each. Most of the time you don''t even have the option of avoiding the enimes. Because of the sheer volume and lack of other options.

It certinly has none of the appeal of the fallout series, which where quaility games. I was able to win both of them using diplomatic character with only basic fighting abilites. But thats certianly not an option in lionheart. Which is a shame since it could have been a much better game.

I agree. Fallout was great...this is severely lacking. I didn''t like Arcanum much either (but I liked FO:T, so my perspective is skewed), but Lionheart really disappointed. It had so much potential and wasted it.

How about the little engine that didn''t? I''m talking about the GameCube.

When I check pawn shops for used games, they say people are trying to sell more gamecubes than games.

Super Mario sunshine''s problem: feels too much like WORK.

GameCube maybe not that big in the USA but it and PS2 are still pretty closely contested in world wide sales.

As much as I''d love that to be true, it''s not. The GameCube "enjoys" a distant second place standing in Japan, but everywhere else the XBox and PS2 are whoopin'' it silly. Nintendo has admitted they''re in trouble several times ("Nintendo Changes Direction" in EGM #170 being the most recent one I''ve seen).

Shenmue -- This game should have been incredible, it was awful instead. A great idea, very poor execution. I''m still hoping someone will come along and take what Shenmue tried to do, but do it right.

Far as I''m concerned, the game that took what Shenmue tried to do and did it right has been released. Shenmue II. I honestly thought it a vast improvement on the first, and a very good game. If Shenmue III is an XBox only game, like I expect, I''ll probably finally get around to buying one. It''s got at least a few games worth getting, so... maybe.

An AP mentioned Black & White. I second that, whole-heartedly. It coulda, woulda, shoulda... didn't.

There is also one PS2 "game" that I just couldn't stand to play, or use: MTV Music Generator 2. This is one game that I truly hate, and can't really put my finger on why. I loved the first one, because I understood its interface. With this kind of game, that's all there is -- a very explicit interface to your music. That's a touchy thing, and MG2 just didn't do it for me.

Thankfully it's just a matter of choice there, so I use the first one instead.

Now for the GameCube, I promised before it came out that there were only 2 games I was interested in: Zelda and Metroid. 'Course I lightened up on that emotionally, but as it turns out, I've pretty much stuck to it. I have Zelda Master Quest, Zelda WW, and Metroid Prime. Go fig.
