I need some help. I am working on an online fantasy sports game, with a twist. My problems are, how to get stats and player licensing agreements. Does anyone know how places like ESPN fantasy baseball imports stats into their game? I mean, they don''t have a bunch of monkey sitting around all day typing that crap into databases do they? Secondly, if I''m going to use real life players, do I have to get a licensing agreement from the players union and if so, how much is something like that going to cost? Thanks for any help or any direction towards help!

Most sources of baseball statistics, rely on a company called STATS, Inc. You can find them online. Also, just go to the ESPN web site and the baseball section, and you will probably find a link to STATS, Inc. This is a VERY expensive service (got to keep those monkeys in bananas). STATS, Inc. does offer a sub-set service called Stats-Online that may be what you can use.

As to licensing from the player''s union, for alot of money, you can obtain licensing to use player''s names. If you don''t get a license, and they find out, they will sue you (it has been done).

Good luck,

Eric
