Hi guys, I''ve just started learning OpenGL programming and am now at NeHe''s lesson 32. I was motivated to learn this stuff because I thought this was the technology being used to program games for the Playstation 2. Is this true? Also, just finished playing Shadows of Underntide and Neverwinter Nights. I know these are based on OpenGL. Anyone know anyother games based on OpenGL? Most of the others I''ve played are based on Microsoft''s DirectX. Later. The best is yet to be

quake series.. upcoming doom 3.. alot of games were based off the quake series'' graphics engines so theres quite a few out there..
what is it specifically that draws you to graphics programming?

Cool pictures.

I''ve always been into graphics programming. Since the days of my ZX81 256byte computer. Problem is, the interest has been on and off. Everytime I play a new game I get back into graphic programming. Got into OpenGL cause I was looking to program games for the PS2.

I''m not really a fan of first person shoot em ups. Prefer space flight sims like WC1,2&3 (Wing Commander,) Freelancer. Also RPGs like Neverwinter Nights.

One of the things that I find weird about programming and playing OpenGL games is that the models are very "polygonized" not like the old days when a space craft of a character had smooth curves and lines. But I guess in the old days we didn''t have real-time movement of camera, differing view angles and real time physics as well.

In games like starcraft, the models were sprites, small images.. Not polygonal models... But when we have games with several degrees of freedom, using sprites is almost impossible!
Those old games with smooth curves are 2d :0
