2.4?
I kept hearing how great and wonderful the Linux kernel version 2.4 would be. Now it''s out. Well? Anyone using it? Is it really all that and a bag of chips?

/me thinks you have debian. All recent distros ship with the 2.4.x kernel for quite a long time now. I think the 2.4 is out for more than a year. What are the differences between 2.2 and 2.4? Take a look at the changelogs at kernel.org. Generally the hardware support is better, new features like firewire or usb, iptables instead of ipchains, ...
The newest stable version is 2.4.21

Oh. No, I have Mandrake 9.1, which I just checked and comes with 2.4. I guess that answers my question. I can''t really tell any difference, myself.

Is 2.6 the one that''s gonna have all the super duper speed increased when using multiple i/o things and all that? The one that lots of people wanted to call 3.0 instead of 2.x?

I don't know what it is, but it seems like my mental faculties have dramatically decreased in the past few weeks. I mean, I just made a B in Calculus II! Me? Me?!? I can't imagine that. I've gotten stupid. Maybe it's just because it's summer. I sure hope so. I'm tired of being stupid. Or maybe I'm just stupid and it's easier for me to convince myself otherwise as I'm studying for calculus tests. That must be it.
BTW, this post is a result of me being stupid and me being very sleepy. In the morning I'll have no idea what I was talking about, or why I even posted it.
EDIT: When I said I made a B in Cal II I mean last semester, not today. As in a B is good (compared to a D, for instance) and now I don't think I'd be able to do that good if I were taking the class right now.

Hey Brad, I reported a "B" in Calculus I last semester, and I got no sympathy around here! I particularly like to excel in mathematics, but with alot of other classes in the courseload, I didn't have enough time to spend with a given class. Therefore I have to cut down to maybe 3 classes a semester given that I work fulltime. Right now this summer I decided to chill out and forge ahead with more C++ and some scripting with PHP on my own. Have to kick back into gear in the fall.
