Good BSD books?
I just installed FreeBSD 4.8 on my computer and I was curious if anyone here had any good/bad experiences with any of the BSD books out there. I''ve read reviews for several books on amazon.com, but I wanted to get some opinions from my fellow GameDev.net surfers.

You probably know that, but there is plenty of documentation on the FreeBSD site itself, like the FreeBSD book.
But you probably want something on paper.

You can probably find some good reviews for hard covers, or maybe find your answers to avoid buying the book.

I know about all of the online documentations... I was wondering if anyone actually purchased and of the books and liked them... ?

Honest, I rarely buy books now. I find most of it on line. I usually buy Nut Shell series when I find something that requires a lot of references (perl, unix commands, etc).
I know there was just a new BSD book released that got some good attention on /., but I can''t recall it off the top of my head.

The Complete FreeBSD, by Greg Lehey, Published by Oreilly and Associates.
For all the rest check out the stuff in /usr/share/doc and the GNU info pages (GNOME Help Browser is great for this) and man pages (ditto).

Heh,
In addition to the BSD-specific general operating books, if you''re looking to appreciate the beauty of BSD you should snag the McKusick/Bostic, et al. 4.4 BSD book. This book is solid, and is a great read and reference ( though it''s pretty much just the kernel and not specific API/drivers, etc ).
