I''m having some network card problems. I have a D-link DFE 550TX card. On d-links homepage they have linux drivers for the card. One for kernel version 2.2 and one for version 2.4. I use the latest Debian distribution. I follow the instructions that come with the driver. I untar the file and I put the files in /tmp. I then use "make all" to compile the driver as the instructions says. I am then told to insert the new module (a file called sundance.o) with "insmod sundance.o". Here I am told that "sundance.o is compiled for kernel version 2.4 while you have 2.2. This seems strange when I specifically downloaded the 2.2 file and not the 2.4 file. I wonder if the make all command did some strange things to make sundance.o to version 2.2? And do Debian really use kernel version 2.2?

by default debian 3.0 install will give you version 2.2 of the kernel, you have to choose the bf24 option when installing to get 2.4. as for your other problems i can''t really help.

Is there a configure script?
