water based gameplay.
What kinds of games can be made centred around water?
You could have toy submarine games, or games where you had to water flowers with hoses and have to adjust the pressure to reach flowers further away from you, games where object volume matters - ie. immerse a solid object into a tub of water and it will displace that volume of water.
How about games where you can combine different liquids, or have non compatible liquids.. such as oil and water.
You could have floating items such as mines, and beach balls.
Ah well, I did expect I might get a similar (or worse) response to this topic.. I posted it since I am writing an essay. and I''m bored.
That said, I believe that there are some interesting opportunities for puzzle games to be made that feature water, and controlling water. For instance, flooding a part of a map in order to break open the doors.
There are even some games already available such as Wetrix.
but, yes this is a silly topic.

No no! I think this is an awesome idea. Honestly! I am currently commited to a project so I am not going to go too in depth on ideas but I don''t think you should dismiss your idea because of one anon. poster.
Water based gameplay idea #1:
Get the rubber duckie across the pond by throwing rocks into the pond and creating waves. Create different types of "rocks" and maybe differing types of water terrain. Maybe use a "plan of attack" and make the gameplay turn based.
Kinda like mini-golf?
Water based gameplay idea #2:
Defend a small midwestern town from a flash flood. Build barricades and leveys and mannage the growing crisis and or pressure the flood puts on your foritications.
Containment?
Water based gameplay idea #3:
A game that takes place underwater and is more than just a FPS with a third dimension. I''ll leave this open for meow.

Your a fire fighter and you need to put out a house/forest/whatever fire with the water at hand. Find the firehydrent and hope your fire-hose is long enough, call in a plane to drop water on the fire, etc.
Dam planner. Your either a human engineer building the Hover dam or your a beaver that needs to build a home.
Your an alcamest (sp?) and you have to solve puzzles by mixing liquids. Mix the dragon urine with bat blood to make an invisibility potion to sneak past the city guards. mix barley, hops and water to get a beverage, etc.

KarsQ: What do you get if you cross a tsetse fly with a mountain climber?A: Nothing. You can't cross a vector with a scalar.
I love the ocean and have thought about making Sailing and Scuba simulators for awhile. A Sailing sim would especially be neat depending on what kind of vessel you can use. For example catamarans, trimarans, or even large multi-masted sailing ships. Scuba could be neat too just to see what it''s like underwater and also worry about what divers really have to worry about.
Not really games per se (although the sailing sim could easily be made into a racing game...America''s Cup anyone?), but still centered around water. I suppose you could even combine the two and do some kind of Treasure Hunter game.

The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount." - General Omar Bradley
How about something like, lemmings... you could have little guys have to work at making a path for the water so that it doesn''t flood there city...
or there is a Pipe Dreams game there you had to make the pipe reach to the other end before the water came out..

exploring the abysss, encountering huge and bizarre undersea creatures like those that really live in the depths. I''ve always found these fish and organisms really fascinating they are like aliens from another planet.
