Hey guys... here''s a few test compilation shots from my big animated feature I''m doing this summer These shots are kinda big (we''re going widescreen) so I''ll just give you links. Oh yeah, right now there''s just a wispy light there... but, we have a particle programmer on our team... sooo.... what you see definitely isn''t what the final version will look like. Oh yeah, the dead on back view is messed up...not too bad because he''s silhouetted... just didn''t have any smoothing on him WHOOPS! Good View OK View

Woo hoo!!! I just foudn out that IU is turning one of the labs that is closed for the summer into a render farm. SCHHHHWWEEEET.

Hands down the best reason to work through a university If the stuff you are making is cool, they''ll bend over backwards for you....

Cool, so what can you tell us about it? Length, story, anything?
Hmm... well, I don''t want to give too much away... But, it''ll be about 7 minutes long, start out really serious and austere and then has a surprise twist where things get really funny.

Kind of sucks that I keep getting pulled further and further away from game developement... but, I''ve been here long enough, so I probably will keep posting my work

I actually have a lead on a position with PBS doing childrens animation. Might be interesting...

But... we start animating next tuesday, and should be done about 4 weeks after that.

Thats cool, I''m looking more at animation myself then games. Well see though, I''m more interested in film now. PBS job sounds cool, Good Luck with that.
Well... here''s the first thing we took time to render. Still needs a lot of work. (MPEG 4 compressed... quick download, not so perfect quality)

Having animated myself for a competition named FIRST, I know how hard it is and especially time consuming those animations are.
The video you just let us see, definitely needs some heavy work on it. The plastic armor is quite humurous actually but that needs to be worked on, the human needs a lot of work too . I love the lighting though with the smoke and everything, creates a really nice atmosphere. The fire looks to be really nice.

Good Luck on your project, this seems to be awesome.

PS: Here is my latest I did in 5 weeks with a team. I am the second dude in the credits .

Heh heh... well, this part is actually the... most trivial part of the animation. Literally its a third character we threw in to make the story make a bit more sense...

Don''t mind the comments on the armor, I didn''t make it ;p LOL, I just set up the room and did the animation part... THe body itself I did make... since he is such a minor character, I pulled out an old human model I had made and told the other guy to cloth him. Its not perfect, but its going to be about 7 minutes long, and that guy is seen in maybe about 20 seconds of it I''m also planning on doing a lot of touching up in after effects. THis was only our first render. I''m getting these few made early on while we wait for our render farm to be set up.

Production is going really well, just that one of our modellers is... well... uhm.... very below par. I''m project director... and I''ve been pushing him. Sadly enough that armor was the best thing he came up with so far ;p

We reduced one of the characters - a cute demon - down to a blob with a flower sticking out of this head... he''s even managing to mess that one up *sighs* Our particle effects guy is siimply amazing though!!

I haven''t been able to load your animation yet... I''m on my roomies laptop because my computer decided to die... just passing time right now while windows installs... *sighs*

Thanks for the comments

Just saw your animation... very nice modelling! Maya?

Do you do any character animation work?

Thats the hardest part with what we are doing... its just a LOT of character work... I spent about a week just rigging the main character... and he still has issues Has some nice results though....

Only comments I have with your animation... and very trivial... the flag waving is... a bit much. It looks more like boiling water than a waving flag the main flow is nice, but it seems to "bubble".

Heh heh, and just cuz I feel obligated to say it... not that I agree with it... but as I have been told and criticized on before... "It is an unwritten rule that you do NOT stretch text. Such is a graphic design rule that is never meant to be broken" this was of course, followed by a rant about how telecom production majors have no sense of design... Me, being a double in Fine Arts and Production... unfortunately bear the wrath of both worlds. Too bad I''ve seen them stretch text on TV before *shrugs* they must not have met my graphic design instructor then ;p

Can you tell I''m bored? Sorry for the novel...windows is done installing.Yay.

More Stuff to look at...

That Knight scene is currently being re-rendered, just have to go pick it up from the Tcom lab tonight.

Here's a few more shots though...

Few notes of things I noticed with this rendering... Still need to fix the tops of the curtains, gotta remap the back wall (texture gets warped briefly). Lighting is a bit hot, but thats okay - won't be in the actual renders.

Same Thing - Click to Download (Study Area)

Lighting is still a bit hot on this one, and, have to remember to give the bookcases a bump map...
