I''m thinking about going to an OpenBSD User group meeting tomorrow. I am interested in getting some ideas of things to do with some of my OBSD equipment, seeing how it is applied in the corporate world, as well as networking with some people that use it. Anybody here go to meetings or a member of any *BSD/Linux user groups? What are informal meetings like?

I go to LUG meetings once and a while and mostly when they cover subjects I''m interested in. Most of the times, there''s a couple of presentation, then we talk a bit about different issues and finally, we end up going to grab something to eat. I made 3 new friends the last time I went to Linux-Quebec''s meeting. LUGS are mostly for information sharing. At least the 2 LUGS I assist are mostly info sharing. But the main reason to assist is simply to meet people that use any variants of Linux, BSDs, UNIX in general and what not. The 2 LUGS that I attend meetings at are mostly a bunch of really welcoming people so it''s pretty cool. They received me as a speaker once for an LTSP presentation. Anyhow, those are my views on LUGS...

I just RSVP''d for the NYC LUG. The next meeting''s on the 21st, and it''ll be my first LUG. Pretty well established, they''ve been active since January ''99 and have their meetings at IBM in Manhattan. Looking forward to it.
Well I went to the meeting on Saturday but due to misleading driections and a few minor snags in the trip there, I was about 45 minutes late and noone was there. Checked the mail archive when I got home and the last message was one asking if anyone was going to go, and noone replied, so who knows if anybody actually came or not.

I will try and go to their formal meeting, first tuesday of the month, and ask about the infromal saturday meeting and see if people are going.

I couldn''t go. I had this really nasty job interview that took all day - ended past 9pm while the LUG meeting was from 6:30 to around 8:15. Next time...

The job sucked, btw.
