WineX
Any thoughts on this? I think its great. Now I can detach from windows completely and still play some of my favourite games.

$15 for a subscription? pfft, don''t they know information wants to be free?
Just kidding.
WineX is pretty cool when you got it configured right. It allowed me to play Jedi Knight II in Lunix. I never did get Everquest to work tho, or Tony Hawk''s Pro Skater, with the latter being the most important.

I think WineX is quite good, but I always first check if the game runs with the original Wine http://www.winehq.com
Wine gets better every release.
Wine gets better every release.
The CVS version of WineX doesn''t work on copy protected games, does it?

I havent tried it. If paying was a one shot deal maby but the subscription thing bothers me. I would like to play more games in Linux but concitering how hard it was to get regular wine working the one time I did I don''t feel like gamblin on it. I''m always "F"ing up my linux stuff. Case and point I reinstalled Mandrake 8.1 and .2 on my system two days ago And now I cant get it to use my Geforce4 anymore. I installed fine when just replace it but after I reinstalled the OS it thinks its some generic card and is using old Xfree 3.who gives a crap . Now I have no 3D. Some how I had it working once then it magicly stoped working. I''m about to shoot myself. I have 9.1 on the way and it better not pull this crap. Once I finaly have everything working again I''m not touching shit.

You could off course try to install the official drivers from www.nvidia.com. They now even have an installer, so you don''t have to bother with RPM''s, compiling, installing etc. The only thing you''ll have to do is execute their driver-file, and edit your XF86Config-4 file (according to very clear instructions) to use the NVidia accelerated drivers....

Yes Yes I Have done this their new installer is very nice. Problem is that when the OS installs it sets everything up as a generic VGA card I as near as I can tell installs XFree 3.something not the required 4.1 . It says It put on 4.1 but its using the XF86Config file and not XF86Config-4. Its also using the old style syntax in the file so I can''t add the nividia drivers to it or swap files. If I try and overide the graphic card installation and set up a older nvidia card it does not generate the config files at all nor will it accept the sample ones. I have to install it the default way to get X to work at all. I pulled it off once then after a coulple of reboots it started messing up. I sould have then first tried the new nvidia drivers but I did not. Out side of installing my Geforce2 card reinstalling then switching back to the current card (wich has worked in the past) I''ve done all I care to do. I spent 3 days on it and I''m tired. I just wait for 9.1 to get here which should know what the damn card is.
