"Reducing the world to mathematical equations!"

Whoa...$200 for each of those? That''s not bad at all. Maybe I should take my modeling hobby to the next level!!

Seriously, I''m no expert or ANYTHING but a professional contractor would be able to do that in less time, yes? Maybe not, I don''t know, I''m just a hobbyist.

Dave,

Did your animator model and texture these aircraft? I only looked at the 737. Although the model seems descent enough with good texturing, the animation is small and of medium quality.

If the model was already made and textured it could take just a few minutes to do a 360 degree rotation animation. Perhaps 15 minutes each. This would all depend on ability, program and system speed. On my 2200 AMD Athlon with 512 mb DDR RAM the rendering of 180 small frames would take less then 10 minutes, with a set-up time of maybe 5 minutes.

If these were animated from preexisting models I would say $50 per .avi.

Otherwise a good aircraft model can be bought online for around $50. So, if your animator did the modeling and texturing in addition to the .avi I would say $100 each.

He DID do the modeling and texturing from scratch. As for the size and quality, they are just supposed to be tucked into a corner of the screen with the rest of the screen showing various stats, etc.

I almost choked when I read the first answers to your post, I didnt know we had this kind of trolls around anymore. Certainly not in Visual Arts.
If you want the opinion of professional artists who do contract contract work, I suggest you go to the Sijun forums, it''s a very high level forum, but given how helpful they generally are, I am sure you''ll find someone nice to give an idea. And when you know the kind of work some of the guys there have done, I assure you can rely on what they will tell you. (spooge demon, for instance)

Go there Sijun forums

Oh, and I dont imply there are no pros here, it''s just that I know that Sijun would be more what you are looking for right now
