I need some Internet programming help...
Here is the situation:
I have a server (most likely written in C++) running on a Windows 98 machine (with a static IP). What I need to be able to do is create something that will run in a web page and can send a message to the server. For instance, someone would goto the web page and type some information into some fields. The person would then click a "send" button. The "object" running on the webpage would then send the information to the server wich would then take care of the information.
The problem:
I don''t know what would be the best "thing" to use on the web page; JAVA, ASP, something else... I''m looking for some suggestions as to what technology I should look into. I am not asking for instructions on how to accomplish my task. I would also apricaite some place to go for information about your suggestion (be it a book, a web page, or something else).
Thanks.
My guess would be some java. However, I don''t know too much about it, so I''m just guessing. Also, I think I''ve heard of something close to that incorporating php.. but I really don''t know anything about that, so that''s just a long shot.
The best bet on finding some resources would to just search for some kind of programming referance.

If it were upto me all CGI would be coded in Perl. But as you''re running Windoze on your server that''s not possible unless you get an ActiveState license. However, if you have VB 6.0 you can make DHTML apps - check out the tutorial at informit.com which may be able to handle your situation - i dont know much about it.
