SDL, is it current and does it have a future?

Just wondering if anyone knew if SDL is current and is updated or if it end up like or is already like GLUT.

I have never used SDL though, I never thought it was that good from what I have seen.

Yes, SDL is still being developed. (The last release was only a month ago).
It''s pretty "mature". (few bugs, stable API, etc)
SDL 2 is also under very early development, from what I hear.
