beginner info
I have a few questions. I wanna make a game somethin like grand theft auto(way down the road ofcourse). I know C fairly well but I dont know much else. I ordered a book already on beginning game programing with directx. First off I wanna know what other things I should learn if I wanted to make a game like that(once again way down the road).
Second question...is it crazy to want to start your own game development business? Right now I plan on doing software development and starting my own business with that because I understand thats much more likely than gaming, but I would like to impliment game development into that.
This question is just because im curious and once again if I ever did this it would be way down the road...what things do you use to make ps2 games as opposed to pc games. Thanks a lot.
I recommend you take a look at this guide on Amazon - it should answer your questions:
So you would like to become a game programmer

Hmmm... excellent link . I scored 17/33
Hmm... have you read Dewhurst's "C++ Gotchas" (ed. A-W) ?
It does compare well with Meyer's series, in my opinion.

"Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it." — Brian W. Kernighan
