A bomberman clone was my first learning game. Ive got thr graphics and such still so if you give me an email address I can send you a tileset for characters running if you like (not great though).

I think people who always want to have the ''original ideas'' in their first game are those dreaming of making another HALO, just different and will never finish. By picking a small game and saying that''ll be it and I might try to change things here and there but mainly keep it the same you have a pretty straight forward concept and know where you''re going.

And flaming people has never been a wise idea
