EQ or UO?
Which game did you spend the most billable hours playing?
As for UO, I think I put in about 2 months of solid play. How long was beta? I couldn''t force myself to pay for it.
Before I nuked my EQ account (well I eBay''d it actually) it said I had been "alive" for more than 6 months! That''s PLAY TIME, folks. I finally had to admit how sad I had become.

I haven''t tried EQ yet but I just came back to UO after a 5 month hiatus. It''s REALLY changed. They have new areas for consentual PvP, armies (hordes and hordes) of monsters, a party system... the list goes on. They call it UO Renissance. The server I play on (Arirang in Korea) used to be filled with PKers, but now there are more PK killers (PkerKers?). I believe I will be logging quite a bit of time.

Although EQ is much more visually appealing, I prefer UO. EQ was just too crowded and after two months of hack and slash killing in the same two or three areas it just got boring (If I ever have to kill another rat in a game I will become physically ill...).
UO is a lot of fun. Particularly in the PVP by consent only lands there is a lot to explore and do. The trade skills are designed well. They may take alot of effort but it pays off. In EQ you could pursue trade skills forever and it basically ended up worthless.
If EQ had game rules that actually allowed you to do more than camp spots in Blackburrow I would be back there in a second. UO''s 2D sprites don''t have 1/100th the immersion factor that EQ''s 3D graphics do. I can remember standing in the tree tops in the city in the trees and watching a rain storm (I can''t remember the name of the forest elf city???).
Its ironic that graphics and game play seem to be inversely related. Asheron''s Call had the best graphics in my opinion, but the game mechanics were a jumbled mess and after a short time the game play could bore a person to tears.

Basically UO is something that you can do in an half an hour of free time without problems (go mine for half an hour). EQ seems to take a minimum of three hour blocks (it takes just a half an hour just to get to a group going). And considering that my free time is severly fragmented (and my free time degragmenter is buggy) I spend more in UO.
I one thing I remember from UO was chopping wood, more wood, and still more wood. Sorry, that''s not any fun! Plus I was always a bit more into character development and stats, something UO never really got into a great deal.
Never tried AC or EQ, though. I''d love to but only so many hours in the day and just don''t have the time anymore!

I haven''t played UO, but I do have to say that EQ is probably one of the greatest online games ever!
My very trusted friend, who is a great game critic, told me that UO is not that great and that it was "ok". Apparently it is one of those games where the faster connection you have, the better chance you have of beating the crap out of everything/everyone.
I have to admit, I don''t like it when games come to that. I''ve also looked at UO and I have to say that the magic system is inferior to that of EQ. I also like the battle system in EQ better as well.
I also have to say that EQ has everything! Fishing, language, increasing certain skills by using them (without leveling up).
The one thing that I don''t like about EQ is that if you''re not a magic class, the game is boring as hell. You come up to something, and you slash it until it''s dead, or until you''re dead. It gets really boring after a while. If you''re a magic unit, you can look forward to getting new spells and testing them out.
However, you can''t take my opinion very seriously because I have never played UO, I still stick by my decision. EQ.

First, I''d like to know exactly what UO is. And how much does it cost? And where can I get it?
Second, being signed up with NeverQuiet.... uh I mean EverQuest, I can add my share of information into the discussion.
I love EQ. It''s probably the only thing I''ve done on the computer since I got it a few months ago. Great graphics, sound, gameplay. Up until Monday, I''ve thought It''s certainly worth the 10$ a month. (or is it 20? I dunno. My dad pays for it. He plays too =)) But I''m beginning to really question its value because right now, as I type, there''s a serious bug in the game that won''t let alot of people (including me) log in. And because it''s such a good game, people that can''t get in are panicing. They actually have to return from Norrath to the real world. And they can''t. They really don''t have lives outside EQ. So basically, the only problem with EQ is reliability. I totally agree with the statement someone said about taking longer to get some playing time on EQ because for me with my 56k modem that only connects at 28k, I spend 20 minutes getting disconnected and reconnected, and that''s on a GOOD day. Does the same problem exist with UO (or is it OU? I forget!)
