How would one go about making a 3D game look like anime?
Cel-shading. Check out Jet Set Radio Future on XBox for a pretty good example. There was a DBZ mod for Quake 3, but i forgot what they had to change the name to. Just do a search for Dragon Ball Z Quake mod.

Sounds goods. I''ll check it out. Thanx.
dont even try it...u can change anime characters to make them look more realistic, inorder to model them in 3d. However if u try to replicate then, as they are on paper, u will only end up with something that looks ridiculous... Just try to model anime hair, u will know what im talking about
or better yet, give us some exaples of what u are trying to model
Oni for PS2 was designed to make you feel like you were an anime character. Pretty fun single player game, with very little replayability. Sub $15 right now too, as it has been out for a long time. Check it out for some ideas.

I''ve played Oni already and that''s what imspired my game idea. That and several Jet Li action flicks. Anyway I want to create a game like Oni but with similar gameplay to Devil May Cry. The hero of the story won''t use weapons though. Just off the wall all out martial arts. I also want the game to have a dark feeling like an anime movie I saw, can''t remeber the name.
would be an interesting game...the big question now, do u have a 2 million$ budget?

Shinobi. I don''t think so. And I wish I had a 2 million dollar budget for this project.
