Is there any way to determine whenever a IP address is from the internet or is local?

Well, type ipconfig into the console (windows) and youll see your own ip-adress for the net, and youll see the ip-configuration of the intranet. The other computers on you intranet would have the same numbers, except for the ones after the third dot (depending on the typ, though).

Ah yes, I know that. But what I mean''t was if it is possible to check if an IP is from the internet or from a local network? For example, the loopback address (127.0.0.1) can never be an internet IP.

anything starting 192.168.*.* or 10.0.*.* are the official internal IP''s anything else is internet, you could check you subnet mask and the servers ip and just allow access to client on the same subnet...

You should look at RFC 1918. It describes which IP addresses
are used for private LAN rather than public internet
IP addresses. The private IP addresses are:

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
