Best fighting style?
Which way of fighting in a rpg do you thinks it''s better:
-You go inside another world, like Final Fantasy, Valkyrie Profile, or separate limitate the fighting space inside the same world.
-You fight in the same world you move, without space limitations
The fighting system is suposed to be fast and not an traditional rpg, but an action rpg.

For an action-RPG, I would definately reccomend the second option, fighting on the main map. While it can work the other way (see the Star Ocean games for an example) the second feel more natural in an action RPG. (Example: Secret of Mana) Fighting on the main map also has other benefits, such as keeping the pace up by eliminating transitions into the battle mode. of course, without these trasitions, you''ll have less time to load any data you might need, so you might want to consider having all the enemies in an area loaded before a battle can start.
Of course, I''d need more information on the style of the game. Are there random battles, or are all the enemies already present on the map, for example.

Definitely check out tri-ace''s games Star Ocean and Tale Phantasia. They have awesome action RPG battle systems, some of the best I''ve seen in 2D games atleast.
It''s like a mix of Final Fantasy and Seiken Densetsu 3 battles, which is really cool.

Some other things about the fighting systems:
In the system with the limited space system you have to select a escape option, but in the other one you just run from the enemy and it can chase you. Of course that in enviroments that are suposed to be friendly, like towns there are guards and stuff.
Also in both systems you can have free movement like Star Ocean, but the first one is limited.
The main purpose of the non-limited system, is to make let the player to use, or interact with the enviroment, like that if there is a lake in the screen, you use a water magic and it takes water from the lake to make the spell stronger.

i like finalfantasy style, however the load times are a drag.
i would say a real time system is better, however not in the style of an american rpg (diablo...) move like vagrant story,

Maaaaaaaahahaha. Who''s da king baby?
I miss the traditional fighting of hearing a weird sound them you see the cammera scroll down to some Demon the appeared, Some talking happend the then you control like all 3-10 of your people and take turns. Each charector can move certain amount of squares, attack a certain range, or use magic that can go certain distances and cover certain areas. I think an exampl was Fatal Fury.
