King of Kings
Hiya, all.
King of Kings is an automated PBEM strategy game. I am looking to introduce AI in the following two areas;
Automatic AI for computer controlled nations and players who forget to submit orders. At the moment I have two fairly minimal and stupid AI routines. These can be used for computer controlled nations, and one of them is automatically used whenever a player forgets to submit orders. In this way, players who lose access or for other reasons are unable to submit orders for several turns do not ruin the game by making it too easy for their immediate neighbours. I also want to introduce better AI routines so that games may have many different AIs playing different types of nations. E.g. aggressive, passive, peaceful, cowardly, etc. This will allow for bigger games which tend to be more interesting to players.
An AI competition where programmers each submit AI code, and the different AIs then play against each other. Unlike normal games where turns are submitted and processed each week, such a contest could have orders processed every 5 minutes or so, and thus an entire game could be run in a few hours.
King of Kings is entirely free, and anyone may have full access to the source code, which I publish on a regular basis (as changes are made) to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/King_of_Kings/. The code is designed to be as platform independant as possible, and will definitely build on various 32 bit Windows OSs as well as Linux.
If you are interested in developing AI for King of Kings (or even want to play please email me at jontomxire@hotmail.com.
Many thanks,
JX.
I get the feeling this would be better suited in "Help Wanted"
