Ok, I''m a programmer and not an artist (i REAAALLLY suck at it), but it is necissary for me to at least make textures that are passable as the object I want them to be. I do not however know how to make a texture partially transparent. Like if I wanted to use billboarding and have the object show up, but not the whole damn spuare. I can''t seem to figure out how to use photoshops alpha channel. I''ve consulted the help, looked on the net (seems like everything shows you how to make transparent gifs and not .tgas). I know how to open an alpha channel, but can''t seem how to figure out how in the hell to use it. I''m totally lost and unartistic. Someone, please help!!!
this might help:

Ok, I''ve kinda figured it out, but it''s still being screwy. When I enable blending in opengl my shape is transparent as well, and RED, not grey how it was in the picture. I put the places where the picture is in photoshop as white in the alpha channel, and the places its not as black. Why is my stone turing up red, and transparent??? ugh.
