A new RPG idea
Humor. Hows about an RPG that is just plain funny. Including setting, characters, plot, tasks, etc.
It could take place in modern times(1920-1950). Possibly WWII. You''re a general. And you travel country to country. Of course, he''s an allied power. The humor comes in with the guys that join your party & those you battle.
Magic System could be replaced with Some kind of Knowledge Tactic system. Or something. And when you get weapons, not only does Exp. points increase their attack power, but increase ways of using them.
The main character could either be a made up general or General "Old Blood & Guts" Pattan. He was the one with the "Rednecks". They could be his party members.
A combination of history, RPG elements, & humor.

Not an *entirely* new idea, games like Albert Oddessy and some others have done it. But it hasn''t been done enough to get old yet, so have fun with it.

Or... how about an RPG with the Looney Tunes?
This would be more of a humerous type. Hmmmm
Worlds could be based on old classic cartoons like their action-platform. It would be like those, only in an RPG style.
Or you could have an RPG involving Janitors. Their weapons would be cleaning equipment.

I think in terms of the populous, this won''t work Humor is good in games.. Invictus has a fair ammount of humor built into a realatively good plot, but the plot is so linear that you can''t do anything but what the designers want. You can''t just go around battling the evil forces on your own, you''ve got a set course!
However.. I think a pure humor game has it''s place. I still remember a ''the Sims'' style game for the commodore 64. It had a cross section of a guy''s house, and he merely did things. You could intervene, order pizza.. have people come over, have him feed the fish kinda stuff. it was pretty funny.. had no real game value, more of a screensaver kinda thing. Although the house never moved, so it didn''t do so hot on savin the screen.. lol
If you made a game with comedy, you hafta do it very well. Slapstick humor is good and fun, but you need to add real creativity to it. Look at Monty Python''s Search for the Holy Grail! It''s not too long, and doesn''t contain too many overlapping funnies, that way everything is still funny because they''re all different! Plus the cinematography in it enhanced the comedic effects! You''ve got a lot of negatives from the start, but it''s possible to do. You need a good theme, even a farce of another game would do. Like instead of Quest for Glory, have it be Quest for Gloria, all about finding your run-away wife who went to vegas with your credit cards.. hehe If you''re going to make something funny.. and it seems you''ve got the basic humor down.. you need the plot though.. then you''ve just gotta go with what''s already there. Think Naked Gun.. hehe they''re all based off other things, and just twisted them. That would be totally cool for a game.. to make fun of other games, and most people take it in good humor.. although no one''s made fun of programmers yet.. hehe good luck!
