As far as generating the terrain geometry, Google search for ''Terragen''. Great little freeware app.

A second option would be to use height maps. I don''t know if 3dMax supports this or not.

umm - you could email jeffl86@hotmail.com and ask him - but if you do - say you played our game (Elementum) and that you really liked our terrain and saw his email address and wanted to ask.

he has the game engine, of course, which takes greyscale images and color textures and converts them to an awesome terrain.

he also has some that you can get from various places around the Nehe Productions site that are a little easier and just use one exe file and a greyscale image (have their own texture).
