How d i get visaul studio to look in my direct x libraries and includes i cant figure it out

Upgrade to Visual Studio .NET. It comes with the DirectX 8.1 SDK. This is the only way that we know of.

Not really. If you have version 6 or 5, go to Tools->Options then go to the Directories tab and put your DirectX directories at the TOP of the list for both headers and libraries.
