C''mon! Just ''cause it''s text doesn''t mean it has to be boring! Back in the day I used to make text pong games, text top down racing games, hell - I even made a qbasic text raycaster (ahh!). Get creative. Text doesn''t have to be static/turn-based/slow/whatever. Hell, look at textmode demos (granted, those are asm+c..
A text mace game. Kinda like Pacman or Supaplex.

Back when I used QBasic I made a text-mode platform game similar to mario, with blocks. It was actually pretty fun to play.

I recently reviewed an ASCII platformer, if you want to look into that.
It is called Crystal, and my website again is here, for those that do not want to scroll up.

I take it you haven't played the game "Pimp" on a TI-83 calculator, eh?

[scratch that... didnt see "teacher appropriate"]

you could make a game called "Ludite" [sic?] where your goal is to destroy computers because of your fear and anger of them.

My history teacher said they were the name for people in the industrial revolution that went around and broke machines because they were afraid of them (he calls himself one when he gets mad at his computer).

It would end up being like an rpg, because thats the only way a text-based game can be interesting.
