thanks for the comments some of them i think are good ideas the columbs on my links page would be nice, but at the moment my html skills only extent to certain things if you notice my whole webpage is based on centred items. This is only my second webpage design. Definately something i will ammend on my new site.
the header text on my title page i like it, it makes it personal to my page and it will appeal to the people who like my artwork so i see no reason to change this.
The fact about geocites yes i dislike the ads myself but my page actually looks weird without them. i wonder if the html code you supplied would remove them off my netfirms page because as of yet i have had no problems with the servers etc. My reserve about geocites is that it is so well known i can only imagine their servers getting hammered a lot.
i looked at your links you have some good design features, i confess to being new at the webpage design and this took me two weeks. so i guess with new features im looking at four weeks or so on my next page.
Thanks for the comments

crits on my website
Few thing popped into my mind.
1. Get rid of the ad-banner. It greates a cheap look / feeling. No professional would have banners or ads on their page. I agree that your design would look weird without it, but perhaps you could just add breaks there, to keep the space. It could help. Or do our own "banner" / header from your artwork.
2. Use more intresting typo. Both in navigation and in the text. It greats a much more pro look if you use font other than Times New Roman in the text, but be careful about this, you don''t want to use anything too fancy, cause it will have the same effect. For example: use Arial or Verdina and find a good size that looks good with them and is readable.
3. Your background color and the background color of images ( for example navigation bar ) aren''t same. They may look like the same in 16 bit colors, but in 32 colors you can see that there is a box of color around them.
4. News as a section, is something you have to think. Do you realy want it there? Because it takes a lot of work to keep it updated. And often in personal sites you see that the site hasn''t been updated in months or years. And that sucks. It creates this cheap feeling, feeling that the person who owns this sites doesn''t care for its visitors.
5. Like someone said don''t center your texts or links. It doesn''t look good. Or at least it doesn''t look good in my eyes.
6. I personaly don''t think its good idea to use a web hosting service like geocities. Why? Cause you get a realy cheap feeling when you see a site that''s in geocities.com. You know that the site ain''t gona be pro and you have this sertain image in your head what the site will look like, even before you have visited it. netfirms.com would be a good service if it didn''t have the banners. I didn''t know it was a web hosting service, before the banners. If you realy want to be a pro buy your own domain. That''s always impressive.
You had a good and clean navigation. I found what i wanted. The content was good.
I had something else to say, but my friend poped here so i must go now...

I got rid of my friends...
I think your layout looks good. It isn''t mind blowingly briliant looking, but it doesn''t suck. It doesn''t look like some one pulled it off in five minutes. And the size ( in kilobytes ) is small enough to be used with modem. Colors are good, they create warm feeling to the site.
Overall the site is good. It serves its porpous. I found what i wanted to find ( your artwork ) and i found it fast. I didn''t have to wait for any flash animation / intro to load. I don''t think that you have to redesign your site. But if you want to use it as a portfolio to get a job, i think redesign wouldn''t hurt. You would get experience in designing and you don''t have anything to lose. Execpt little time. If your new design doesn''t work out you can use your old one.

Again some good comments all round, right now ive fixed what i can, found a nice little trick for the ads so there still there but you cant see them. The boxes should have gone pretty much around my graphics as well.
with regard to the type fonts yes i agree about them, you mean the ones on the bottom on the pages right?? I redid these recently due to some spelling mistakes and i couldnt find my origional font. I think i will go back and edit this.
with the banners gone i have noticed that my site is lacking in any real primary colours that grab attention so i think i need to incorporate these back into my design. And finally the text which i have been putting off for weeks think its time i learned how to create text properly in html:-).
cheers for the comments

okay, kumikana, i apoligize for my lack of money to buy a site. just get a .tk site then if its that much better. theyre quite free, too and get rid of that ''cheap feeling'' you apparently get. i just havent figured out how to get rid of their banners yet.
psp is fine for anything ive done. i personally dont think photoshop is worth the five hundred extra dollars.

Yeah i understand completely... I would probably be using geocities too if it wasn''t for couple of nice friends that have their own servers...
