where the best place to start as far as studying hard on A.I. goes. I have done quite a bit of programming in C++, and understand all the direct x uses and concepts (just haven''t used it enough to remember syntax and be able to use it well) and I have also gone through an introductory book on LISP programming. should I look for an A.I. book that simply talks about different algorythms not specific to a language, or should I hit it with just one of the languages.... any books you recommend? any other comments you have on it? If barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

Artificial Intelligence - A Modern Approach by Russell and Norvig is the best introductory text. Most of the ideas presented have pseudo code alongside them. Prolog is the language of choice for the authors.

It will certainly keep you busy for a while...

There are two books you might want to check out...

- AI Game programming Wisdom (Read some about it, good stuff. It comes with code, but isn''t totally based around it.)

- AI Techniques for Game programming (Got a good review in Gamedev mag, but haven''t seen it yet)

Haven''t read through the book "fup" mentioned either...
