can someone tell me where i can find a tutorial on animation in 3d studio max 4. the ones in it don''t tell you how to make the bones move the person. or i missed it.

You missed it Look carefully through the tutorials, they go into extreme detail. They even have plenty of sample ''rigs''. One thing you may not know about is adding envelopes (it''s been a little while since I set up an animation rig, but you need to add envelopes, so look that up in the help and hopefully that will lead you to where you need to go).

Once I have finished my bone structure and made sure that is works... I apply the skin modifier to my model... you then add all the bones into the list within the modifier you can then go from bone to bone and click Edit Envelope... this dispays the vertex weighting gizmo... when you play with it you''ll understand how it works....

i got it working but i made the persons arm move now i can''t get rid of that. how do you delete and animation also how do you make more animations or do you just put it on the same thing.

i made the arm move and now i want to get rid of it. i right clicked on the red thing that shows up of the bar thing at the bottom of the screen but the arm still moves. what turorial show you how to use the slider bar at the bottom of the screen and use the animation buttons at the bottom.

I suggest you click help and type in Track View.... and start learning about function curves and key frames
