A little off topic maybe, but I wanto write some GL code for bsd so I guess its ok. When I try and install it to dual boot with my windows machine it tells me my drive geometry is incorrect. Whats the deal?? What should I do? Thanks

How are you trying to install it? I''m not too sure with 5.0, but 4.6 had to be installed in the first 10gb of the drive... or something like that.

Off of a CD but I investigated drive geometry but I dont understand why the OS needs it. It seems OS''s deal with the hard disk at a lower level than I had expected

You should try the newbie or question mailing lists at www.freebsd.org.

As far as I know you just need a primary partition for FreeBSD. I think 10GB problem was resolved a while ago. You just need to install the bootloader.

I would recommend using 4.7. I read the mailing lists and current still sounds buggy.

I guess that its just a bug. I''ll try 5.0 when it comes out cuz 4.6 & 4.7 installed fine.
