Calling all artists, animators, and pixelators!
I am currently in need of artists. I am creating a game for the RPGtoolkit (if you haven''t heard of it go to http://www.rpgtoolkit.com ) Basically it is a condensed version of a game production studio. It uses its own programming language, which is very versatile. As the name implies, i will be using the RPGtoolkit to make a Role-Playing-Game. If you don''t know what that is, do some research :-D Now to the juicy part:
1. I need pixel drawings of the characters and non-playable characters(NPC).. they can either all be 32x32 or all be 64x32 (64 tall)
2. I need drawn battle poses for the characters. The game will focus mostly on the battle system and story. (and trust me, the story kicks butt!)
3. drawing, drawing, and more drawing. I prefer a drawing style such as anime, cartoon, etc., but ANY DRAWING STYLE IS CONSIDERED.
To spark your great interests I thought I would include part of the story. Take it as a teaser of sorts. If you join up I promise to tell you all my beautiful secrets >=D
Background Story:
When the Creator was still strong, he made 15 followers and gave them to his Children, the humans. The Given, as they were called, were strong, smart and immortal. They made the land strong and pushed civilization further than any would dream. But, as time passed, the Given began to fight one another for power. Such meaningless squabbles eventually led to the collapse of the world, The Red Redemption. It was said that at their creation the Given could not be killed, but they had forsaken their Creator and turned their back on their meaning to exist, and thus they lost all their Creator-given powers. But even without the backing of a God, the Given were still powerful, able to manipulate the masses and transform their bodies into great war machines.
And then the news of the death of Mechal, the third Given, swept across the world. No longer were the Given considered invincible; he was slayed by a human hand, the sword of Rakshar’tear. The peoples rejoiced thinking that they could finally defeat the tyrants at their door. But, the rejoice came too soon. Rakshar’tear began to soak up the memories and soul of Mechal, transforming his own body into a Given himself. Rakshar’tear then became the third Given, but he vowed never to use his power against humanity. He left, and humanity began to combine their forces against the Given. One by one the Given fell, killing thousands each, but it was a great price to pay to get rid of their tyranny. This was known as the Red Redemption. The new Given, the persons who had killed the indivual Given, where split apart on opinions on what they should do. Some led the masses, but were assassinated for their power later, others took the life of a hermit, forgetting life’s troubles and living off the land. Only three of the original 15 Given survived the Red Redemption, secluding themselves and taking no chances. To this day, none of the three have appeared.
Occasionally, a Given will be killed and the new host will attempt to make a name for himself. He or she is blinded by the ambitiousness of power. The Power that the Given had was untainted, given by the Creator himself. When the new Given dies, not only are the original Given’s memories transferred, but every Given after him are also. No one ever gets to be as strong as the original 15, the memories get more and more clouded from the past hosts. It is said that the Power of O’tella, the fourteenth Given has been transferred 52 times. All the Power the host has now is reduced to nothing more than cheap cantrips.
Children are possible. The Given have given birth to thousands of children, but no inheritance of the Power has ever been recorded. Rumor exists that some have been born with more power than their father or mother. It is uncertain if their memories can be soaked like a Given’s can, if the children even exist.
The Given are not forgotten however. A group called the Watchers have kept a count on 11 of the 15 Given since the Red Redemption. Although they don’t take direct fighting with the Given, they judge swiftly and are quick to attack if the Given show signs of hurting the people. The Watchers usually keep to the shadows and are a strong force when they want to be. Funded by the High King, they will show no remorse when a goal has been determined. Even if that goal is the destruction of a Given.
Len Fyre, an orphan, is a young man of 16 years old. His mother died at his birth, and his father left him on the street to die. He grew up in Taitan, a city on the skirts of the Rockfelling Mountains. As a child he worked for his food, refusing to steal unless he was starving. And starve he did sometimes, and he was humbled because of it. No pride showed up in this young man’s eyes. When confronted about being small and weak, he only grins and walks away.
He is not small and weak at all. For his age, he is above-average in strength and dexterity, but physical attributes are not the reason why he has lived as long as he has. He is one of the smartest boys to come into the land since Baemlyn the Wise, a sage that transposed the entire story of the Red Redemption. But no royalty would ever admit that they are dumber than a street-rat orphan. And because of that reason Len fights everyday to get his dinner meal. He is not angry about this fact, because he believes himself to deserve the judging out of modesty and humility.
Sara, the daughter of Roland the Blacksmith, has been a friend of Len since childhood. Roland often gives Len work so that he can earn a few coppers or even silvers. Sara is Len’s reason for living, but you won’t ever catching him admitting it. He cares for her more as a sister, but has no inflictions if she ever wanted to kiss him…
Yumani is a street-thief and trouble-maker. It is a wonder how Len and Yumani ever became friends. Len would say that he is trying to keep the child thief out of trouble, and Yumani would say that Len makes a good scapegoat. But all their trouble-making aside, they are good friends and would fight side-by-side.
Bar is older man who has been watching Len for some time. They have met on occasion, usually when Len needs a hot meal or is in trouble. He is a shadowy character that drips suspicion on sight, but few ever see him without Bar wanting them too. What Bar’s exact role about Len is still mysterious…
The King Alcazabar of Hazy has laid down a challenge. He is holding a Duel of Fighters in the Hazy Arena three weeks from the start of the game. Gold and riches have been offered, but the real prize has been a kiss on the cheek from the fair Queen Ezmesrelda. Rumor has it that a Given has appeared to take up the challenge and he says he will fight until beaten. The Watchers are going too.
