"proper" collisions

im well versed in physics modelling but im having trouble visualising what happens when "real" (soft, spinning, frictional) objects actually collide. i want proper handling of, say, someone being thrown from a car wreck and skidding across the ground, causing them to spin. its easy enough to make spheres richochet, but whats a good way to represent two objects maintaining soft, sticky contact over a period of time, so that when i apply my forces i can have good modelling of grip eg its hard to hold onto a ladder in high wind. ******** A Problem Worthy of Attack Proves It''s Worth by Fighting Back

You might want to look at the work done on natural motion (www.naturalmotion.com) which seeks to deal with the sorts of problems you describe.
