What the better computer generated mix music maker. Fruity Loops or Reason? Or is there another one?
I''d suggest Reason, but that is probably because that is what I use.

It really depends on how well you can use your program.

I''d suggest Reason is more flexable, so it is able to do more stuff, therefore is better. But that is not to say Fruity Loops or other programs are not good enough to do what you want.

Wow! Reason costs 399.00 USD. Thats one hell of alot.
I also agree with Andrew Russell and put in a vote for Reason. I have to admit, however, that I am comparing an older version of Fruity Loops with Reason 2.0. Fruity Loops 3 that is out now may be much better. There''s also a program called Orion
you might want to check into. I believe that it costs about $199.00 US.

Reason is profesional recording studio style software. That is why is has such a high price tag.
I use Fruity Loops a lot, but not Reason (never tried in fact...)
Now I use the FL version 3.55. It is great, easy to use, and much better than old versions (<2) !!
Lots of options, effects,...
I advise you this program... but it depends on the kind of music you want.
If it''s more "loop-like" electronic music, then use FL since it''s designed for it...

People told me that ACID pro was not so bad too, so have a look at it

yeah acid is another loop based program

(in case anyone dosn't know, reason is a note/MIDI based program (although, it can do loops extreemly well as well, especialy if you have the partner program (I forget what it is, perhaps someone can inform me? (so many nested brackets!)))))

I got Reason (Pirated)it has mainly all the features Fruity Loops 3 does but with Fruity Loops you just have to know where to find it, its not all in the big thing like reason (Which I think is confusing and that you could always turn the wrong nob by accident). FL3 might even have more features but I don't really know. And I also think FL3 has a more user friendly interface. But keep in mind I am comparing Reason 1 not 2 with FL3.

Oh and theres alot of partner programs for FL3 like Simsymth 2, thats is really usefull. Fruitytracks is also another one its also usefull. Then the EZ-Editor , just like every other wav thing out there. But theres VST plugins too, alot of them.

Patmoa, Fruity Loops 3.55 isn't the newest one, 3.56 is. This is what is does if you were wondering.

Support for Tascam US-428 controller.
(more bugfixes!)
Formula in MIDI remote control box can now modify increment step (for endless knobs).
Can now select rows of notes in piano roll.
Added 'fit to time' option to Fruity granulizer.
Fixed weird rare automation bug.
Improved wrappers & fixed timing info.
Added 'pausing steps' in some knobs & sliders.
New user interface for SimSynth Live.
VSTi version now renders properly in Cubase.
New clock toolbar.
Changed tempo & pattern selectors.
Fixed Wasp's envelope link problem.
Fixed small playlist selection bug.
Fixed various minor bugs.

What does VST stand for?

Virtual Studio Technology

Reason is a great program if you have only that, since it can be used for things beyond loops and the such.

Fruityloops is VERY easy to use..I recently upgraded to Sonar 2.0 XL and a demo of Fruityloops 3 came with it. I messed around a bit, and within about 6 minutes I had made a 4 minute long electronica song that could rival what is played in dance clubs. its not cause Im good, its just because it really is that easy. I think a chimp can be trained to make credible music using Fruityloops 3.

Reason on the other hand is more in depth and there are some aspects of it which you may have to stop and read the helpfile or book it comes with.

As for me, I run a recording studio here in NYC, dealing with a lot of production and postproduction work, including mastering, so I rely on Sonar. Sonar is basically the PC''s answer to ProtTools. Being familiar with both programs, I can accurately say they are very alike.

What it comes down to is how deep you want to get into digital composing. A program like Fruityloops is great by itself to make music for a game project, but to fine tune everything down for a commercial-quality soundtrack, you''re going to need to get familiar with the heavy hitters like ProTools or Sonar.

One last thing I''ll mention about Sonar, in case you''re interested... its completely compatible with Acid and Reason projects, so you can start elsewhere and down the line, if you want to, can always add Sonar in for mastering and that fine tuning.
