Hi. Ive just finished my first "game". actually its not really a game because its not interactive but im proud of it nonetheless. I would like to be able to come into some of these forums and say " hey! check out my new ''game'' at wwww.whatever.com ". Can anyone recommend a good place to put a website for free? and what would be involved in getting it set up? Also, a really stupid question, If i put my .exes up on the site for people to download, is there any way that some sort of hacker could infect those files so that people would be downloading viruses, or some other program that i didnt make? thanks! Its not my fault I''''m the biggest and the strongest; I don''''t even exercise.

Well, as long as the cracker doesn''t break into your webhost or manages to get at your login data, the files are pretty much untouchable.

As for the host, depending on the size of your product, have a good look at transfer quota and prices for bandwidth beyond that. Otherwise, about every host should do. Perhaps have a look at the bigger hosts as they tend to offer bandwith really cheap or have very high limits.

Pick one. Check to see if they give enough web space to hold a zipped copy of your game with a few MB extra space (to allow for images, HTML files, and larger future versions of the game). Sign up and use whatever means they demand to upload pages. It may be FTP, which means getting FTP software (http://www.wsftp.com). It may be browser uploading. Either way, follow their directions. If you don''t know HTML, I think all of them have page designing tools you can use right off the internet. You can also use Microsoft Word and save to HTML or if you have any recent version of Internet Explorer installed, use the program Frontpage Express which comes with it.

While all of those servers are quite hackable, nobody who would know how is going to bother trying to hack your site to fill your game with viruses.

Just a note, you might not be able to put EXE files in your web space so you''ll have to use Winzip or something to make it into a ZIP file.

If you want a .com name, I reccommend this:

- Look for it at domains.com
- Buy it at godaddy.com ($8.95 a year)
- If you can only afford $12 (plus domain name) a year for hosting, go with worldwebhosters.com
- If you can afford $25 a year, go with webmanixhosting.com (you could have 20 times as many people download your game)

If you are capable of making a game, HTML will be a breeze (or you could be lazy and use some free on-line tool).
There is a nice page maker at www.zyweb.com. try it out.
