Accuracy/Power Bar?
Well, I was just wondering whether anybody had heard of this: When you choose to attack, a bar appears and a slider moves between the two extremes (Power and Accuracy). When the slider is on the far left, the attack will be incredibly strong (relative to your level, or strength) but will miss more often thatn at the far right end, where it won''t be as strong but will hit more often. When you''re low in level, the slider will move faster, making it harder to get what you want; but when you''re more experienced, the slider will move more slowly, making it much easier to decide what you want and more importantly to get what you want. I was also thinking that you could buy an accessory, or cast a spell or something to make it automatically strong or accurate (which you would also be able to toggle off/on with "q" or something). Any comments?
yeah I had a similar thought but the ac/at thing is a nice touch . kind of similar to whats used in SweetHome and SD Snatchers.
Making the slider move slowly will anoy the player if the slider starts at the oposide position he wants it to fire.
I suggest a option to select where it shall start, or even another way to make that selection.
It sounds like something for a RPG like game. My question: do you want to test the players skill hitting the button the time the slider is where he wants it, or do you want to test the characters skill? Planer skill is more a FPS.
just my 2 cent

It's a similar idea as in the Fallout Series. They didn't use a bar but in Aim mode you'd pick out body parts. Some things like torso was easy to hit a did so so damage. Whereas the would cause massive damage but would be very dificult to hit unless you had the Sniper Rifle. (I looooved my sniper rifle, hehe). Btw, the bar thing sounds like those basketball games where you use the crossed bars to aim your shot.

I have Fallout, and that wasn''t exactly how I was planning it... But yeah, I was planning it for an RPG. It would make the player decide whether he wants to do tons of damage, to end the fight quickly, or have dependable attacks. One character is extreme on both end, ie, he''ll never miss at the AC end but have a wimpy attack, whereas he''ll do incredible damage at the AT end, but very low accuracy.
