Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus for Sale
Heya everyone,
I've decided to ebay off my copy of TotWGPG 1st Edition book. Not because I don't enjoy it (it's a great guide!) but simply because I've now got a copy of the 2nd edition .
Anyways, the link is here
Thanks,
-Michael

I''d like to get rid of my copy as well, but I''ve already written about 20 typo fixes in the book with ink.

I got rid of Windows Game Programming for Dummies, SAMS Teach Yourself Visual C++ In 21 Days, INSIDE Photoshop 6, and Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus (1st Edition) all in less than 72 hours. Made about enough to keep me eating for another week or so!
*SIGH* Ahhh...the life of a game programmer...

What''s new in the 2nd Edition that makes it worth getting, aside from typo corrections and patched code?
I''ve got the 1st Edition, just in case you didn''t know.

He uses DirectX 7.0 interfaces for DirectDraw and I think he uses some DirectX 8.0 interfaces for sound, music, and input. There is also another chapter. This info is all based on a paragraph I quickly read at Barnes and Noble, but I think that''s right.

Everything is updated for DirectX 8.0 and that''s about it. I still found typos

OMG.. i cant believe it took him nearly 4 years to update
the book to use DX7 and fix some typos. I was really
turned off by the first edition..
confusing typos aside, there are bad coding habits taught
throughout the book.

ROFL.
I just checked out the summary at Barnes and Noble and I noticed the new chapter is the same one one that came on the disk in the 1st Edition as a Bonus Chapter (now tentatively titled Chapter 14). That''s the same one I already have printed, bound and sitting on my shelf
Perhaps if LaMothe brought out a 3rd Edition I might look at it, but I don''t see anything that would interest me in getting 2nd Ed since I already have a few books from LaMothe''s other series that are more up to date with DX8 anyway.
