MS Visual C++ 4.0 question

I have heard that there are some incompatilbilities with visual c++ 4 with Direct X 7 and win32 API. Is this true?
I wish there was a button on my monitor to turn up the intellegince. Theres a button called 'brightness' but it doesn't work
Shouldnt be a problem if you download the directX 7a SDK and copy the headers and libs into your visualc 4 header and lib directories (or set them as paths before std paths in your configuration)
